Saw the heron today for the first time in a month or so. Hopefully the moorhen chicks are too big now to serve as prey plus they rarely stray far from one or both parents.

All four moorhen chicks feeding this morning (three visible here). No swallows, possible they’ve migrated or perhaps they’re simply waiting for it to warm up a little more.
Good news! All four of the moorhen chicks out on the bank today despite some of the mallards being snippy.
