Stalls being setup in Coronation Gardens #WestKirbyLive
News to me but article in the Wirral Globe suggests Wirral inspired the sci-fi output of Jules Verne. Supporting website has a number of articles. Not in a position to judge but interesting historical context anyway. julesverneandtheheroesofbirkenhead.co.uk
Very pleasant walk around Dibbinsdale this morning. #Wirral
#CrapNaturePhotography today at RSPB Burton. Cafe now open five days a week, closed Weds and Thurs. Huzzah! Something about this place in general that is wonderfully destressing.
It all kicks off this weekend. Bikeathon on Sunday but first West Kirby Music Festival on Saturday with afaict 42 acts across 10 venues. Apart from posters at some of the venues I haven’t seen much by way of publicity but the denizens of local pubs, bars and coffee shops will doubtless be entertained. More info I suspect at Coronation Gardens on the day. In aid of Maggie’s cancer charity which has a centre at Clatterbridge.
No sign of the four ducklings this morning. Probably still have a fledgling moorhen going by the odd peep from the undergrowth 😬
Cemetery mere this afternoon.
Walk this morning around the Marine Lake, up to Cubbins Green, then back down the Wirral Way to Ashton Park. #WestKirby #Wirral
Early morning stroll around #PortSunlight #Wirral
Late afternoon stroll around Birkenhead Park. #Wirral
Little Eye vs Anglesey this morning. #SmallOrFarAway
Visit to Royden and Frankby cemetery this afternoon. #Wirral
Walk along the front between Hoylake and Meols, returning via the dunes and a coffee stop at Dovepoint.
Slightly circuitous walk this morning, checking out Six Acres (not much there), partway up Telegraph Hill, then FP15 into Caldy for a gawp, then onto the Wirral Way to the Whistle Stop at Thurstaston for coffee. Model of #WestKirby Joint Station in the Visitors Centre.
Cormorant perch in use off the #WestKirby Marine Lake this morning. #crapNaturePhotography
Play Spot the Juvenile Robin (?). Something of a fixture on Echo Lane lately.
Puddles, actual standing water. It’s been a while…
Slightly dismal morning brightened by the sighting of a small flock of egrets by the Marine Lake.
Thoughts are with those affected by yesterday’s tragic events on Water Street. #YNWA
doh, the website for the West Kirby Music Festival on 7th June is www.westkirbylive.co.uk
Solitary fledgling moorhen with parent this afternoon at the mere. Other parent still on nest so possibly more to come (managed four last year).
Very blustery on the prom this morning so mooched down Banks Road instead. Signs for West Kirby Live music festival but website doesn’t seem active despite date of June 7th when announced in March. Also in June an open studio arts fest across Wirral. In other news the bijou bookshop is apparently moving and expanding soon. #WestKirby
Moorhens built a nest in the middle of the mere. At least one fledgling clambering about in the lily pads. No sign of herons. Let’s hope it stays that way. #crapNaturePhotography
I’ve been a bit ho-hum about Sultans Of Swing in the past but the 13 minute San Antonio Live 1985 version is great fun.
Lovely volunteer-maintained garden on the hill overlooking #WestKirby #Wirral
