Warm, borderline hot, in #Royden this morning. That said, cooling breeze up top and lots of welcome shade under the trees. The meadows have been a visual delight this year. Heron on the mere.

Pleasantly warm for a walk to Benty’s and back. It being Sunday afternoon, railway in full swing for kids and parents.

Breezy and a little humid this morning in #Royden so not feeling particularly sprightly. Tayberry scone at Benty’s which I’m pretty sure is named for the river, not you-know-who. Walled garden quiet but busy elsewhere.

Just seeing how loops.video plays with micro.blog.

Not exactly the best night’s sleep ever but off to #Royden before the midday heat for a quick plod. Spotted some hairy cattle and an actual fish in the mere. All also feeling the heat, I expect. Cooling off a bit after today (hopefully).

Gentle plod round #Royden, sticking to shade as much as possible. Heather starting to show more prominently. Greasby brook exposing its sandy bottom. Distant view of lavender growing at Benty’s (used for wax melts apparently). Moorhen chicks growing fast.

Gentle meander around a warm and fairly quiet #Royden. Heard a couple of nuthatches and spotted a few more fungi whose appearance is apparently more to do with humidity than temperature.

Have bought one of those cheap and cheerful electronic hand fans. Only problem is I keep wanting to refer to it in faux Lady Bracknell tones as “A handfan?” and I think that’s going to get old very quickly.
Out a little earlier than usual and keeping to the shade in #Royden. Bit of a breeze in the courtyard cafe.
